EASY CHERUPAYAR PAYASAM
INGREDIENTS
jaggery grated:2 1/2 cup
cheru payar/moong dal:1 cup
ghee:4 tbsp
cardamom(elachi/elakkai):5 to 7 nos
cashew nuts:50 g
raisins:50 g
coconut milk powder::7 tbsp
water: as required
METHOD
-Roast cheru payar/moong dal in dry pan until it turn light brown colour. off the gas.
-wash the cheru payar/moong dal, 2 to 3 times.after that put in pressure cooker add 2 tbsp coconut milk powder and water.close the pressure cooker wait for 3 to 4 whistles.
-heat another pan .add some water to the grated jaggery. when it melts,strain and mix in with the cooked cheru payar/moong dal,bring to boil (it take around 6 to7 min)
-add rest of coconut milk powder mix in water.boil for 1 min.off the flame add crushed cardamom(elachi/elakkai).mix well
-heat ghee in pan, put cashew nuts,fry till golden brown color .fry raisins also.add this to the payasam. mix well.
-EASY CHERUPAYAR PAYASAM is ready.
note :if you wanted more ghee you can add.do not over cook the cheru payar/moong dal .leave some bits whole for taste.
if you want paste type texture, wait for 5 to 6 whistles.add enough water so that it shouldn’t burn.
